Parent Portal and Parent-Teacher Communication

Skolex gives parents one app for messages, announcements, grades, attendance and fees, and gives teachers one place to reach them. Announcements go out in English and Urdu, absences trigger an immediate notice, and the parent app runs in any phone browser, for families from KG through Grade 12.

One parent app for grades, attendance, fees and messages

Parents shouldn't need a different channel for every kind of news. In Skolex the same app shows published grades, attendance, fees, school announcements and their conversations with teachers. Parent access is included in the school's subscription, with no per-parent fee.

  • Published grades from the gradebook
  • Attendance, with an immediate notice when their child is marked absent
  • Report cards to download at any time
  • Fees (School and Network plans)
  • Announcements and direct messages from teachers

A mobile app without the app store

The parent app is a progressive web app (PWA). Parents open it in their phone's browser and add it to the home screen, where it opens like any other app. There's no app store account to set up and no update to install, which matters when a school is asking hundreds of families to get started in the same week.

How parents add it to their phone

  • Android (Chrome): open the parent app link, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app.
  • iPhone (Safari): open the parent app link, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.

Announcements in English and Urdu

School-wide announcements carry a priority level, so an urgent closure notice doesn't look like a reminder about sports day. Announcements are multilingual and include English and Urdu, so a parent who reads Urdu more comfortably than English isn't the last to know.

Direct teacher–parent messaging

Teachers and parents message each other in real time inside Skolex, and the conversation stays on record with the school rather than on a teacher's personal phone. Messaging follows role-based rules: students can only message teachers. Parents can also request a parent-teacher meeting, and the meeting is scheduled in the same place. Email notifications cover every important event.

Where WhatsApp still fits

Most parent bodies already use WhatsApp before a school sets up anything official, and you don't have to ban it. What works is deciding which messages belong where: a moderated group for informal updates if you want one, and Skolex for anything that needs a record, such as formal notices, grades, attendance and fees. Our guide to parent-teacher communication covers how to set those channels up.
